I’ve been a foodie since I can remember. My passion for food began with an Easy Bake Oven and has now completely enveloped my soul, which has led me on this journey here, to Soul Dam Good.
Besides cooking classes in high school, I never went to school for culinary arts. I learned from too many hours spent watching the Food Network and countless kitchen experiments. I have been told that I have some sort of paranormal foodie sixth sense that gives me a natural instinct to know what flavours jive well together, even if it’s something that doesn’t really make sense. I’ve never been one to follow a recipe. Don’t get me wrong, I have used plenty of recipes for inspiration, but never in my life have I followed a recipe without basically changing the entire thing.
Not following recipes has been both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because I’ve created some pretty taste-bud altering dishes in my time. A curse because I could never perfectly re-create them… cause I never wrote them down. I’ve however learned from my mistakes and I now keep a food diary in the kitchen and I’m ready to share my madness with you!
I hope my recipes will inspire anyone who dares to try them. I encourage you to follow in my footsteps and try to make your own versions of my recipes. Be daring, try different ingredients and keep an open mind. Oh! and if you do, make sure you leave me a comment and tell me all about it.
